General Description
The Series 2000 line of modular fire alarm control units provides the system design flexibility required for fire alarm applications in small and medium size installations.
The Series 2000 can accommodate automatic or manual fire alarm, automatic fire sprinkler alarm, and supervision and releasing service. The control unit design allows easy, low cost installation and quick servicing. One control unit can be made with eight available modules, making the Series 2000 the only control necessary for a wide variety of applications. Snap-tracks inside the cabinet permit easy installation of terminal boards and plug-in modules. Convenient wiring channels permit easy, systematic running of wires inside the cabinet. All terminal boards and modules feature time-proven, solid-state electronics.
Installation
The control unit may be surface mounted or semi-flush mounted with the optional trim kit. A Common Control Assembly (CCA-4) is required. Two 12V batteries must be wired in series and must have appropriate amp hour ratings.
Cabinets come in four sizes to accommodate one to forty-nine zones of protection. Cabinet to cabinet plugs allow up to ninety-eight zones in a system.
Appropriate zone modules (DZM, EZM or CZM) are required to provide initiating zone inputs and supervision. These also provide supervised, current limited remote annunciator outputs for alarm and trouble by zone. Relay modules (SRM or DRM) allow for various control operations as required.
Faceplates for dual zone module configuration must be ordered separately. The EZM module includes a faceplate. Blank faceplates are also available.
Approvals
The control functions in accordance with NFPA Standard 72 for Local, Auxiliary, Remote Station and Proprietary Fire Protective Signaling Systems; listed by UL under Control Units. Systems (UOJZ) and is approved by the CSFM, Listing number 7165-1341:100.
Common Control Assembly (CCA)
Description
The Common Control Assembly (CCA) provides all common alarm functions and includes initiating zone 1, one 2.4 amp alarm signal circuit and the 24VDC power supply/ battery charging circuit. LED indicators are provided for AC Power, System Trouble, Supervisory Trouble, Signal Circuit Trouble, low or no Battery Trouble and Ground Fault, Zone 1 Alarm and Zone 1 Trouble conditions. Control switches are provided for Zone 1 Disconnect, System Test, Trouble Buzzer Silence and System Reset. Additional power is available using an IPB-3.
Supervision Capabilities
Includes the following: ground detection on initiating, signaling and remote annunciator alarm and trouble circuits; detection of a short on the signaling circuit; detection of an open on the initiating circuits and loss of AC power and disconnected or low battery.
Circuit Features
The initiating and signaling circuits may be wired for Class A or B operation. Initiating circuits are power limited and feature resound by zone with individual disconnect switches. The initiating circuits are compatible with many two-wire detectors and normally open contact devices. A fused power output which may be reset, is provided for four-wire detectors.
Other Features
The CCA also provides the following: two sets of Form C auxiliary alarm contacts (rated 5 amps); one Form C auxiliary trouble contacts (rated 2 amps); a supervisory circuit to monitor the normally closed contacts of supervisory devices; supervised remote alarm and trouble indication. The CCA comes with a unique faceplate.
