AXON Serial Communication System

Confronted with the challenge of creating modern multiplexed systems, major equipment manufacturers have little time for developing an annunciator that is the equal of their state-of-the-art product.

Recognizing the need for an annunciator that integrates properly with today's multiplexed systems, WSA introduced AXON. A microprocessor based system, AXON integrates a core 8031 processor, a serial communicator (RS-232, RS-422, RS-485, RS-488, or 20 ma loop), LED output extenders, and dry switch input extenders.

AXON was designed using the same convenient features and functionality as other WSA products, including quick disconnect cables, color coded LEDs, and scalable input and output performance.

RS232 Communication

AXON is not limited to one set of message instructions, WSA software is designed to accept any RS232 formatted message, in any manner, including plain English, simple numbers, or even a non-printable character set. Any standard ASCII, Hex, or binary information can be processed. The AXON is also able to send data received from the control panel to a printer.

AXON-NET

For applications that require multiple WSA annunciators, the AXON-NET provides complete interactive system linkage. As a result, the main annunciator in a facility can be linked to a fire alarm or security control panel through the AXON communicator serial connection. Then any number of remote graphic annunciators up to a maximum of 32 can be connected to the main graphic annunciator via a simple 4 wire loop. Each annunciator can then be set to function fully independently or mimic the input and output of each annunciator throughout the loop.

AXON-NET self monitors for any communication breaks or annunciator system failures. In the unlikely event that one AXON in the loop fails, other AXONs would immediately note the failure. If the malfunctioning AXON were to not automatically reset itself after several attempts, other Axons would remove the malfunctioning device from the loop.
